History

In days gone by Jamaica was a place of buccaneers and pirates you can see a bit of history and relics of colonialism down at Port Royal located just outside of Kingston.

The ‘Arawak Indians’ were early settlers in Jamaica and there is a museum in Spanish town displaying the history of this time.  This is an important part of Jamaican history so I hope the museum has reopened.

Montego Bay in the parish of St James to the Northwest coast of the island amongst many other interests has “The Rose Hall Great House” this is a huge imposing house with beautiful grounds surrounding various palm trees. A great place to visit and you may bump into the ‘White Witch of Rose Hall’ the ghost of Annie Palmer who lived there with her husband. The house originally built by a John Palmer was destroyed by the slaves during a rebellion.
